Mary Lou Wells is an award-winning author of poetry, non-fiction, and a semi-fiction dark fantasy epic series. In 2021 she won a Firebird Book Award in the Series category for the second installment of the Annals of Aeternum series with Spear of Destiny: Finding Bucephalus, the sequel to Spear of Chaos: Legend of the Undead, her debut novel. 

Mary Lou’s first non-fiction book, The Illustrated Guide to the Morab Horse, has won acclaim in the horse industry for her thorough research into Arabian, Morab, and Morgan horses. Readers claim that it is the most important book of historical significance to Morgan horses since J. Battell founded the Morgan Horse Register in the early years of American independence. Mary Lou is a former horse breeder, graphic artist, and manager at a medical transcription company. She was the senior editor of The Morab Horse magazine for a year and has also written for The Caney Creek Sampler and The Horse magazine. 

Mary Lou lives in Tennesse with three kids, their dog, and writing buddy Twilight. She spends time with her soulmate, best friend, and biggest fan who loves to contribute ideas to her stories.
