Guest Denise Chicoine RN talks about Multiple sclerosis (MS) and the MS One to One program, a free resource to offer support and the tools needed to help people living with MS. Multiple sclerosis is estimated to affect more than 2.5 million people worldwide. MS is caused when the body’s immune system attacks the central nervous system, damaging the myelin sheath – the protective layer covering the nerves that carry signals between the brain and spinal cord and the rest of the body. It is a serious, chronic disease that impacts each person differently, with symptoms ranging from numbness in the limbs or forgetfulness to paralysis or loss of vision.
